India’s Manufacturing Capacity Peaks with 9.1% Q2 Output Surge on Festive Demand

India’s manufacturing index rocketed 9.1% in Q2 FY26, propelled by pre-festive stockpiling, infrastructure-linked steel demand, and PLI-driven electronics assembly scaling to 1.2 billion units annually, outpacing services growth for the first time since 2022. Construction followed at 7.2% with PMAY urban housing momentum, while PMI readings above 58 signal sustained order books into Q4, positioning the sector to claim 18% GDP share by FY28 through tier-2 cluster activations in electronics and EVs.
