Draft National Electricity Policy 2026 Released to Power Sustainable Industrial Boom

The Ministry of Power unveiled the Draft National Electricity Policy (NEP) 2026 on January 21, outlining a visionary roadmap for 24/7 renewable integration, smart grid modernization, and cost-reflective tariffs to slash industrial power expenses by 15-20% while achieving net-zero grid emissions by 2070. Targeted at MSME-heavy sectors like textiles and SMEs, the policy mandates digital metering, EV charging mandates, and viability gap funding for green transitions, unlocking Rs 10 lakh crore investments and positioning electricity as a growth catalyst amid Budget 2026’s clean energy focus.
