The ASEAN and European Union have launched the SCOPE Trade Project, a five-year connectivity initiative aimed at strengthening cross-border digital trade and supporting small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Southeast Asia.
The programme focuses on improving digital e-commerce capabilities while providing technical support to help MSMEs adapt to evolving European sustainability requirements, including due diligence standards and green supply chain regulations.
Supporting MSMEs for Global Market Access
The initiative is designed to help Southeast Asian MSMEs participate more effectively in international markets by improving their understanding of digital trade systems, compliance frameworks, and sustainable business practices.
Through technical guidance and capacity-building support, businesses can better prepare for:
- Digital cross-border commerce
- European sustainability regulations
- Green supply chain requirements
- International trade compliance
Strengthening ASEAN-EU Economic Connectivity
The SCOPE Trade Project reflects growing cooperation between ASEAN and the European Union to create a more connected and sustainable trade ecosystem.
As global markets increasingly focus on environmental responsibility and transparent supply chains, MSMEs will need stronger digital capabilities and compliance readiness to compete internationally.
Boost for Sustainable MSME Growth
The five-year programme is expected to support MSMEs by improving their access to global opportunities while encouraging sustainable production and responsible business practices across the region.
