India Urges Early End to Iran-Israel Conflict, Flags Supply Chain & Trade Risks

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has urged all parties involved in the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel to seek an early resolution through dialogue and diplomacy, warning that continued hostilities pose serious risks to India’s strategic interests, trade routes, and energy supply chains.

In an official statement, the MEA expressed deep concern over the conflict’s spill-over effects in the Gulf region — a critical hub for India’s economy and home to millions of Indian nationals.

Dialogue and Diplomacy Priority

India emphasised that restraint and diplomatic engagement remain the only sustainable pathways to calm the situation in West Asia. The MEA reiterated its call for all sides to pursue peace and avoid further escalation of hostilities.

The ministry underscored that instability in the region not only affects geopolitical security but also threatens key maritime trade routes that are vital for global commerce.

Risks to Trade, Energy & Supply Chains

With the Gulf region serving as a major corridor for energy exports and merchandise trade, the MEA highlighted that prolonged conflict could disrupt:

  • Energy supply chains — especially crude oil and LNG shipments
  • Merchant shipping routes — affecting global logistics
  • Trade flows — impacting Indian and global markets

Analysts note that disruptions in critical passages like the Strait of Hormuz — through which a significant portion of global oil passes — could exacerbate these risks if the conflict persists.

Safety of Indian Nationals

India also reaffirmed that the safety and security of its citizens living and working in the Gulf remains a top priority. The MEA issued advisories and continues to monitor the situation closely.

The government’s stance reflects concern over potential humanitarian and economic fallout should the conflict widen further.
